DaGMT and other stuff

Have not made much progress in my Drop and Give me Twenty. Been slowly picking fabrics and cutting for a new project, rather than working on UFO's. Cannot seem to get motivated, thinking it is because of my depression. I know some people can still be creative through depression, but I find it makes things impossible. These days I feel like I am in a deep black funk. Need to find a way to crawl out of this hole I am in; suggestions are welcome. How do you deal with a depression fueled creativity block?

On a lighter note, I am looking for suggestions for new authors. I have read all of the books of my fave authors and need new suggestions for binge reading. My faves include Jodi Picoult, Kristen Hannah, Debbie Macomber, Barbara Delinsky. Who are yours?

Day one of DaGMT 2015

Today is the first day of DaGMT - which stands for Drop and Give me Twenty. This is a fun event that Beth Helfter over at EvaPaige Quilt Designs runs every February. The premise is that you pledge to quilt 20 minutes (or more) every day in February, and this will get you in the groove of doing something every day, thus getting more quilts done. (right now Madonna is singing "Into the Groove" in my head). I love this idea! Plus she has fun prizes! I have not yet started my 20 today. Had to go grocery shopping before we get slammed with another storm tomorrow! But I do plan to start soon, and will post progress pics. I am going to work on a simple panel quilt that is meant for a Valentine's Day present. Hmmmmm, can I get it done? Maybe with the 20 minute commitment!

After I am done the panel, I am not sure what I am going to work on. I know I should work on UFO's, but I went to a quilt show yesterday, and saw the most fascinating quilt. The quilt was a QR code, and you could actually scan it, and it went to the maker's blog. A scannable quilt! How awesome is that? Plus it is cool looking too! Now I want to make my own. See the one I saw here:
